Odyssey 7Q is one of the flagship products of Convergent Design. A high-resolution OLED Monitor, 4K Recorder and playback all-in-one.
It’s an excellent piece of gear especially for Sony FS700 users who want to record 4K raw and keep the maximum quality through the SDI output of their camera. Now, the recorder will be even more versatile and efficient in terms of recording options.
At IBC Convergent Design announced an upcoming firmware update to the Odyssey 7Q enabling 4K ProRes HQ recording for variaty of cameras.
With the new update, Odyssey7Q users will now be able to record the 4K output from the Sony F55, Panasonic GH4, Phantom Flex4K into 4K ProRes. Additionally, the 7Q will be able to take the Raw output from the Sony FS700 and Canon C500 and record it to 4K ProRes. An Odyssey7Q recording at 24p to two 512GB Odyssey SSDs can capture 194 minutes (3:14) of 4K material. This is more than three times the recording capacity of 4K RAW.
